Are their linux software can be installed by GUI?

Q. I noticed that most linux software are installed automatically using the software center or by running a script. Just wondering if their are ways to install software using GUI like windows softwares. For me its easier specially when your internet is slow or when you don't have internet connection.

A. You can usually install something by using the command line, provided you have the install package for your distro. For example, most debian-based distros can install .deb files and redhat uses .rpm files.

Is there any software in linux for translating in Indian languages?
Q. I am searching for a linux software which will help me in translating pages of text into Indian languages.
Is there any software available for linux?

A. Have you installed the Language packages for your Linux distribution.

Are there any Linux softwares that have a dock like the mac?

Q. Hey, I just built a computer and I want to try a linux software. The rest of the computers I have are macs and I fell in love with the software especially the dock. So, I was wondering if there were any Linux programs that have a dock in them. Thanks

Where do I download the latest version of iPod linux to be installed from an IBM compatible?

Q. I am looking for the latest version of iPod linux to be installed from an IBM compatible onto an iPod Classic, which according to Wikipedia will run up to iPod Classic, generation 6. Can you provide a link(s) where I can download the installer, preferably one with a grub or multi-boot, so that I can leave the factory installed Apple software as well. I would also interested in links to Linux software which would run on this version of iPod linux.

A. It looks like you are trying to use your iPod as a computer and that's not what it was designed for. I don't know of anybody who has ever done what you are trying to achieve.

Can you change your Linux Software into Windows Vista?
Q. I got a laptop and I am fed up with the Linux software in it! Is there any free programs where I can download my Linux to Vista? Links appreciated! I was just wondering if there any Mac Links too? Thank you

A. You would have to buy windows vista, and then reformat your hard drive and install vista on it.

What's the best software to make simple 3d images ?

Q. Say, comparable to n64 level characters?


I can use either windows or Linux software. Blender has been getting on my nerves because it won't work on Linux and I haven't gotten to downloading on windows yet

How do i switch web browsers if im using linux?

Q. My browser is currently bing (its horrible) But i don't know how to switch it i checked tools for internet options but its not there im currently using the latest linux Software.

A. As stated directly above me, Bing is not a browser, it's a search engine. To change that, you would need into the about:config in firefox and change the search engine, you can find tutorials through google(Which I recommend). As for browsers, I assume you are using Ubuntu. If so, simply "apt-get install browserpackagename" Replacing browserpackagename with the package name of the browser, of course. You may need sudo to do so, if not, go root with "sudo -i", I believe. To uninstall a browser do the same, except "apt-get remove"

How do i switch web browsers if im using linux?

If the free market is as effective as Libertarians insist, then why are the most popular software programs?

Q. Also the worst ones on the market?

Microsoft sucks, the only company out there that's clearly worse than Microsoft is Apple. Linux software is free, and is FAR superior to either Windows or Apple, yet people are afraid to try Linux Mint or LibreOffice.

How can anyone try to claim that the free market is a superior means of distributing information when the modern state of software very clearly proves that is not the case?

Is Isilo software compatible with the enTourage Edge E-Reader?

Q. I have an enTourage EBook reader with the Linux with Andriod Google operating system. Do I use the Isilo for Andriod software or the IsiloX for Linux software?

A. Some are. It depends on your version.

Why will some people buy anything shiny that is made by Apple?
Q. Half the products apple sells have crippled software that wont let you install 3rd party applications. Wouldn't you rather have windows or Linux software that would allow you to do anything you want it to?

A. most likely, as long as it has the apple symbol thing and it costs lots of money, peopel will buy it.

Where can i get the scanning software for the hp officejet 6500 for linux?
Q. I bought an all in one fax printer and need linux software for scanning. Thank you

A. Not exactly unhackable, but a little difficult. Generally safer, more secure than Windows. Not exactly a Gaming operating system and the use of the Wine program limits what Windows programs can be ran. It can be installed on a flash drive and used to install it on a computer.
