i need help please my computer wont let me go on password recovery?

Q.

A. THE CONTENT OF THIS POST IS FOR LEARNING PURPOSES ONLY AND RESETTING A PASSWORD FOR THE PC OF WHICH YOU HAVE FULL OWNERSHIP RIGHTS TO. DAMAGES TO OPERATING SYSTEM OF DEVICES THAT PRACTICE THESE ACTIONS ON DO NOT BELONG TO YOU CAN MAKE YOU LEGALLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR THOSE ACTIONS. IF YOU FOLLOW THESE STEPS, YOU AND ONLY YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS. BY FOLLOWING, YOU AGREE THAT I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES TO YOUR PC.

If you have forgotten your password, download a live boot CD. (Linux or UBD) http://www.ubcd4win.com/
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Run the disk... Open the hard drive
navigate this path
You may need to mount the drive. Check /dev/ for sda1, sda2, sda3, etc. run a terminal window.
Command line you need to play with each one to find out if it's right.... I don't know your partitions and you may not be advanced enough to know them yourself.

mkdir /mnt/windows1
mkdir /mnt/windows2
mkdir /mnt/windows3
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/windows1 -o force
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda2 /mnt/windows2 -o force
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda3 /mnt/windows3 -o force

After you do this.. while in command line... Type
ls /mnt/windows1
ls /mnt/windows2
ls /mnt/windows3

You may not need to go past the first one if you see the Windows Directory.
once you find the directory...
type the following!!
cd /mnt/windows1/WINDOWS/system32
cp sethc.exe sethc.exe.bak
cp cmd.exe sethc.exe

Now reboot... it's a live CD, no need for safe shutdown. That entire environment was run from a disk.
You'll be scratching your head wondering what you just did....
Remember that pest, Sticky Keys??? Sethc.exe is the executible for Sticky Keys... so while CMD.exe has replaced it.. you can access a command line with sticky keys.

When your computer boots up, press shift 5 times at the login screen.
type the following
To change the password of the administrator account and activate it (default is inactive)
net user administrator password /Active:YES -- This makes the admin password "password"
To change the password for your user account
net user yourusername password -- changes your account password to "password"

To add a new user account with admin privileges
net user newuser password /add - adds newuser account with password "password"
net localgroup administrators newuser /add - adds the newuser account to the administrators group

Thats all you get... I can't give anymore. Happy password resetting.

Q. I am trying to restore my computer in back dated because of virus but when I go to start...all program mes...accessory....system tool........it does not show any recovery option. I have window XP. Can anyone could help me to restore the computer other way round. Thanks
Where in control panel i can find the option restore ..........in system tool.....i did not find their or it is not working.....................help me out
But it does not show performance n maintenance in control panel of window XP..........???

A. Well, there's always an option that will erase everything on your computer. Now, you can use recovery programs to recover the files, but it's unreliable and maybe it would bring back the virus. If you have your installation disc, this will be easy. I will give you detailed directions.

1. Go to http://www.backtrack-linux.org/ and download the os. Go to another computer and burn the .iso image to a dvd. Click burn image to disc.
2. Place disc in computer and turn off.
3. Press power button to turn on.
4. Hit F12 and DEL repetitively or whatever your computer uses to get into the bios.
5. Once you are in the bios, make a note of the boot order and remember. Change the boot order to boot to disc.
6. When the dvd boots, you will be given options. You can type in a command (this works for bt4, idk about 5) something like startx or start x. I don't remember so try both if one doesn't work.
7. When you're in backtrack, there's a kind of system manager. When you find the hard drive Windows XP is on, format (erase) it to NTFS or FAT32.
8. Remove BT disc. Insert XP disc. Shutdown computer.
9. When the XP disc boots, install XP on the cleaned hard drive.
10. Once installed, go to the bios again like before and change boot order back to how it was before you booted to backtrack.
11. Hopefully it works. You may need to get drivers for your sound to work. It might not work. I recommend that you download DriverMax. It will help you get the drivers.

or

you can boot to Windows XP disc and try to format the disc with a repair utility.

I am not responsible for any damage. You do all this at your own risk.

Good luck, hopefully it works. If you have ANY PROBLEMS, feel free to email me.

How do you use Linux?
Q.

A. Linux, like Windows, is an advanced operating system, and it's usage cannot be explained in a single paragraph, and probably not an entire page. I'll only try to provide the most basic instructions on how to operate a typical Linux system.

Commands that you can use on the command line:

cd - changes the current directory. cd /etc would take you to the /etc directory on the root partition. cd etc would take you to the etc directory in the folder you are already in.

ls - Lists files and folders in the current directory.

mkdir - Makes a directory. Example: mkdir folder would make a directory called "folder."

ifconfig - Displays current networking information, like IP addresses.

top - displays currently running processes / programs. Press Q to quit.

nano - a simple text editor found on most Linux systems. Exit by pressing Ctrl- X.

How to use GNOME (found in Ubuntu and Fedora):

Applications can be launched by pressing the Applications button on the top taskbar. Think of it as the Start menu being at the top of the screen. You can shutdown by clicking the door near the clock.

How to use KDE (found in Kubuntu, Mepis, and OpenSUSE):

Applications can be launched by clicking the KMenu (a blue K in Kubuntu, a blue mountain in SimplyMepis, and a Start button in OpenSUSE) and selecting programs from the list. This should be very familiar to Windows users.

How to use JWM/Fluxbox/Blackbox (found in Puppy Linux and Damn Small Linux:

Right-clicking anywhere on the desktop will cause a menu to pop up. This menu is like a mini Start menu, where you can selectany application you want. JWM also has a Start-like button that launches the same menu.
