Will you know how to set up a Unix network?

Q. If you know how to set up a Linux network using OpenLDAP and NIS, will you automatically know how to set up a basic Unix network?

For that matter, is the structure of a big Unix network used in big companies like the banks and corporations similar to a basic Linux network?

Is the layout and structure similar?

A. It is not true that UNIX is used in "big companies" while Linux is not. You would be very much surprised if you knew how many "big" companies use Linux as main platform. Just take one: Google...

Linux is basically UNIX for PC-based computers. Many things are common, also there are a lot of differences. It is true, however, that most standard services (like LDAP, NIS) comes from the UNIX world, and it has been ported to Linux, not the other way around. There are slight differences, maybe some configuration files are different, but the principles are the same.

What is the difference between Linux and Unix?
Q. Is there any difference or they are the same? So does Linux stand for Unix something?
Thanks,

A. You know both of them a kind of Operating system.
But linux is new generations of Unix.
So it has more user friendly graphic,utilities,tools,... .

Are there any CLI applications for UNIX that would allow me to merge / combine 2 or more wav files into one?
Q. I have several wav files that I need to combine into one single wav file in UNIX. Are there any command line applications out there that would merge these files together, doesn't have to be wav, can be mp3 or au.
actually - just noticed that cat seems to work :)

A. ffmpeg suite, the main converter/multiplexer/demux program is named ffmpeg.
